When a person tells you that this is how you should talk to Him, and you subsequently decide to talk to Him in a manner that bores him or insult his intelligence or try to blackmail him or bargain with him while you’re holding a weak hand or take him for a deaf person, well no wonder you meet a wall of silence.
God specifically taught us how to pray (talk) to Him, its call Our Lord’s Prayer, a line therein says we should forgive those that f#$k us, and yet that’s not sufficient for us, we would rather babble for an hour or hours, repeating ourselves as if the Big guy is deaf, as if He doesn’t know our situation before we open our big traps, we would rather babble in a childlike language, which we call speaking in tongues, we would rather go to certain hills, mountains, temples (we call them churches, camps etc nowadays), shrines (places where miracles were purported to have taken place, whether genuine or not), we totally ignore what the Big guy said in John chapter 4, that He is a Spirit, the Spirit, that you don’t need to go to Jerusalem (in those days, the most holy temple was located there), if the Big guy said you don’t need to go to the contextually most holy building of that time, and that He desires those that worship Him in spirit and in truth (that you don’t need liturgy, physical accoutrements, mood music, MC’s, dressed-up little men fooling you by telling you that they’re the conduit between you and the Big guy), so why are you lamenting the closure of places of worship due to COVID-19.
The Big guy also said when you want to talk to Him, you should go to the corner of your room, alone, if you have a wardrobe or cupboard, crawl into there in secret and talk to Him. But no, you will rather ignore what He said. I mean if you read His book, there was nowhere in His book that the Big guy had a one on one chat in a mass (church, synagogue, temple) gathering, the clue is in the expression. We have a choice, we can talk to the Big guy the way He taught us to talk to Him, or we can talk, babble in our own way, then we should not be surprised at the response or the lack thereof. Have the kind of day you make it.
