God, sicknesses, diseases, and sin

Sin is not a disease, but a state of mind, in the nature (heart)of the person. While God embraces and heals the sick, He can not stand a sinner in His presence, because God is Holy, He will not beheld sin, and rather turns His Face away from sin, which is confirmed in Isaiah 59:2; But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. However, in Mark 1:40-42; A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.

God prophesied some seven hundred years before He walked among us, in Isaiah 61:1; The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Subsequently when He walked among us, that is exactly what He did, including touching, embracing, and healing the sick.

Since sin is in the nature of a person, absolution also deals with that nature. It involves first of all, true remorse, which is preceded by recognition of the sins, or sinful nature. Followed by contrition, and mind change, involving the will, of not wanting to continue with the previous sinful state of mind. This is demonstrated in the record in Luke 7: 36-50. In this passage, take note of three sentences from Jesus Christ; (1) Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” (2) Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” (3) Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Love triumphs over law. Since all have sinned, however according to the Holy Spirit speaking in Psalm 130 verse 4; But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. God forgives us, so that He can behold us, so that we can come into His presence to gaze at the beauty of His Holiness.
