The unfailing Love of God, inseparable from us

God’s love is constant, consistent, and steadfast. Despite our continual flaws, sin, and tendency to become distant from God, God’s love draws us closer back to Him. In a world where giving and receiving love is often conditional and fleeting, God’s love is stable, healing, comforting, and a source of refuge.

While we may not always “feel” God’s love, the Bible reminds and reaffirms to us that God’s love is unfailing, unmovable, and unconditional.  God’s love cannot be compared to human, relational love because there is no comparison. When you need a reminder that God’s love is a powerful presence in your life, here are five beautiful verses that serve as confirmation.

John 3:16; “For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

While John 3:16 may be a familiar verse for many Christians, it serves as a reminder that God’s love for us is so deep that He gave up his only son, Jesus, on the cross so that we may have new life. God’s love is sacrificial and beyond our human understanding. For those that confess and believe in God, His love continues throughout eternity.

The magnitude of God’s love for humanity is demonstrated by the selfless act of Jesus Christ to die for our sins. God’s love is an active presence in our lives and matures through varying seasons. God’s love is not moved by the storms of life and is a present help and comfort to us during the difficulties of life.

Psalm 136:26; “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:26).

God’s love endures forever and that is great news today! Unlike human relational love that is temporal, seasonal and conditional, God’s love is eternal and steadfast. Beyond our human understanding and into eternity, God’s love endures. Despite the season you may be facing, I invite you to take comfort in the assurance that God’s love will cover, strengthen, and comfort you.

While it is easy for human love to fade and dissipate, God’s love sustains through every circumstance. God won’t leave us in our darkest moments; God’s love will strengthen us when we are weak. When life gets tough, God’s love doesn’t waver.

Romans 5:8; “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God’s love is not affected by or afraid of our mess. Despite our sin, God’s love motivated and instructed Christ to die for us. This is an amazing selfless love. God didn’t wait for humanity to get ourselves fully together before Christ died on the cross. In our messiness, Jesus still loves us.

God loves us so much that He wants us to live in freedom from the bondage of sin. There is no greater love for us demonstrated than Jesus dying on the cross. God’s love is unfailing and God embraces us continually, despite our sinful nature. We are reminded and strengthened by God’s reliable and relentless love.

1 Peter 5:7; “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

God loves and cares for us so much that He desires to carry our burdens for us. God doesn’t want us to carry the weight of the world or our lives alone. During difficult times when we don’t know where to turn or don’t have the strength to move forward, God’s infinite love will guide and direct us.

God’s word will encourage, uplift, and carry us. His love provides life, hope, and peace to our anxieties and weary souls. Due to God’s steadfast love for us, we don’t have to carry our burdens alone and God will provide us with the strength to overcome each obstacle.

Romans 8:39; “Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).

Romans 8:39 reminds and reassures us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. When the love of others falls short, or we turn away from God, God’s love stays the same. God’s love is present with us through the joys, trials, and adversities of life. God’s love transcends into eternity and always draws us back into relationship with Him.

May you find peace and comfort in the assurance that nothing can separate you from God’s love. While you may not feel God’s love, it is always present. When others condemn or turn their back on you, God lovingly forgives, is merciful, and wants you to be free.

Many times, the demands of life attempt to keep us weighed down and we don’t always feel God’s love. These five verses remind us that God’s love endures forever, it is not moved by our sin, it is caring, demonstrated by Jesus dying on the cross, and is always present. Be encouraged and strengthened by the power of God’s love that is an active presence in your life. As the varying seasons of life evolve, God will equip you with the provision you need to move forward. If you are struggling to give or receive God’s love, I invite you to meditate on the above verses when you need encouragement.

God’s love is restorative, redemptive, and will continue throughout eternity. Let us find hope and cling to the powerful witness of God’s love. When we can fully experience and share the love of God, we too are made whole and healed. Sharing our testimonies of how God’s love has empowered, restored, and strengthened us can be a source of inspiration and hope to others. The above verses reaffirm the diverse and constant nature of God’s love. May we experience God’s love in new and refreshing ways, as we seek to grow in Him. Today, I believe that God’s love is the ingredient needed to restore and heal many things that have been lost.

The Spirit of Truth, Honoring God

John 16:13-15; But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

When we and or our religious leaders indulge in lies, be it the politically correct “white lies” or outright lies. And straight up incorrect interpretation of Scriptures, or the taking of Scripture out of context, to buttress falsehood, just as Satan did in the temptation of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is tantamount to testing God, dishonoring God.

“If our leaders are not good – if they’re evil – what does one do?” he asked his bishop. “I want to save my life, but not through lies.” (Franz Jägerstätter 1933)

Honor the Lord your God, we do not honor God with lies, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth

1 Samuel 2:30; Those who honor me I will honor.

Mature Faith

Luke 6:43-49.

“No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn bushes, or grapes from briers. 45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed, and its destruction was complete.”

As the most devout believers of any faith tradition mature, they find themselves quietly and undramatically allowing the fruit of their lives to speak for itself more than relying on conversionist tactics. That’s truly the fruit of real conversion, when our lives (not our words) validate authentic transformation. The movement from basic knowledge to principled understanding to embodied integration is the idealized essence of mastery in any growth process.

Truth is meant to be lived — in our everyday, embodied lives. But truth can be hard to find when it has been hidden from us for so long behind our personality. The English word personality is derived from the Latin word for “mask.” Simply put, our personality is the mask we wear. Taking off that mask, trying to get behind the mask, is the work of the spiritual journey. A mark of spiritual growth is when we stop polishing the mask and instead start working on our character.

The English word character comes from the Greek word meaning “engraving into stone.” The Holy Spirit, like the most talented of sculptors, sculpts and mould us and reveal our soul’s essence in its purest form. Awakening to what the Holy Spirit exposes within us often leads to an urgent unmasking of our false identity, what has become our personality. Embracing a contemplative approach to working with the Holy Spirit allows for discernment to develop, and we soon realize that contrary to pop psychology, personality is not fixed. Spiritual growth and transformation are the result of exposing the masks or illusions of personality and getting to the core of identity. We wake up when we stop fuelling our own self-preoccupation and allow self-realization to serve as an invitation to deep union with ourselves and God, which naturally leads to solidarity with others.

Individual race

Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us” (TLB). The “particular” race means your unique race — the race that is only for you. God has a plan that he wants you to pursue that is unlike anyone else’s. He planned it for you before you were even born, and it includes better things than you could ever dream for yourself.

Once you begin to discover and pursue the unique purpose that God has for your life, you won’t envy anyone anymore. You’re released from the tyranny of having to be best all the time. You just have to be the best you can be, the person God made you to be.
