Throne of iniquity

Psalm 94 v 20

Can a throne of destruction be allied with You,
One which frames and devises mischief by decree [under the sacred name of law]?

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You? – they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under (the sacred name of) law?

Those who pretend and or portray themselves and their actions to be according to the law of God but add extra powers or sources or practices that are not scriptural. Watch out for the vengeance of the Lord.

Doing it on your own!

How many times have you been in the situation or that you come to the conclusion, after persistent prayers that God is not helping you with your problems, and that you need help apart from Him?

You don’t need to go sanctimonious on me, even the wife of the only person referred to in the Scriptures as God’s friend, tried to help God or take matters into her own hands, in order to fulfill God’s promise to her husband Abraham.

Prayer

Glorious Father,

We remember that Your son Jesus said that we will have trouble in this world, but He has overcome the world. Therefore, We bring ourselves before You and We thank You for overcoming the troubles that We are facing at the moment.

Help us to see that You have a good plan for our lives that will give us hope and a future. The pain we are going through will only be temporary; however, Your victory over our life will be everlasting.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Demonic Intelligence and Beelzebub

Plato derived the word demon (Greek daimonion) from an adjective which means intelligence. Intelligence was considered a prominent characteristic of demons. This would be expected since demons are fallen angels as Satan’s vast wisdom became vitiated when he sinned, (Ezek.28:12, 17; 2 Sam.14:20). The great wisdom that characterized angels in general must also have been corrupted in his perverted knowledge as relentless in an effort to frustrate God’s purpose.

In the book of Mathew chapter 12 verse 42; Jesus Christ made a statement that “… something greater than Solomon is here”. To understand a perspective of this statement, it might help to remember that Solomon was famed to possess wisdom (see 1 Kings 3:12), according to some apocryphal and non-canonical sources, Solomon caste out demons or evil spirits.

Therefore, when Jesus Christ was offering a defense to criticisms and false accusations that He was exorcising demons or casting out evil spirits through the power of Beelzebub, part of His defense contained the concept of intelligence, wisdom, Solomon, Satan and the Holy Spirit.

God tests the heart

According to Prophet Jeremiah speaking as the mouthpiece of God, we are informed about one of the attributes of God. That God tests, evaluates and judges us, His creation.

Jeremiah 17 verse 10

“I, the Lord, search and examine the mind,
I test the heart,
To give to each man according to his ways,
According to the results of his deeds.

On the other hand, the psalmist must have been very bold, or the spirit of the psalmist is,test me Lord and under the influence of the Holy spirit and enabled by the Holy Spirit, invites God to be God and demonstrate one of His attributes, the judging attribute, in Psalm 26 verse 2: Examine me, O Lord, and try me;
Test my heart and my mind.

Whether we invite Him or not, on the day of judgement or on the day of the Lord, the evaluation is going to take place. And then, according to Prophet Isaiah in chapter 40 verse 10: Listen carefully, the Lord God will come with might,
And His arm will rule for Him.
Most certainly His reward is with Him,
And His recompense (restitution) accompanies Him.

Man, Move Well

Life is a motivation. It is filled with series of event. Life is an infallible feature, a concrete but an invisible phenomenon that distinguishes living beings from nonliving ones. Notwithstanding these distinguishing features of life, motion is however the mainstay of life. Man is always moving. The issue nonetheless is not movement per se: but in what direction the man is moving. Meanwhile, progress is movement in the right direction in accordance with God’s precepts, an onward motion, steps that lead to advancement in one’s life. On the one hand, movement in the right direction tailors the life of a man into an explicit and clearly defined pattern of advancement; on the other hand, movement in the wrong direction drowns a man in a sea of retrogression or stagnancy. To retrogress is to metamorphose from a better state into a worse one, while stagnancy depicts marking time. Are you moving in a direction that is value-oriented? The first chapter of the book of Ruth details how Elimelech “from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab” because of famine (Ruth 1:1). Unfortunately, he and his two sons died in the land of idol worshippers. Consequently, his wife, Naomi had to go back to the land of Judah. In Ruth 1:21, she lamented: I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home AGAIN empty…, note the adverb – again, it denotes two connotations: Firstly, time, and Secondly, degree. It means, while in Judah, they made no progress, but they believed that when they move to another place, they would progress; but unfortunately, the reverse was the case. Rather than make progress, considering the fact that they were four in number, on the contrary their number reduced to one, and subsequently, the degree of their poverty became worse. What a catastrophe! Why did they experience such heart rendering reversal? Movement in the wrong direction of course! Who initiated the move? It was none other than Elimelech, the head of the family. Given this brass tacks, every man should give careful consideration to the way he moves. Every decision or steps taken by the man of the house automatically affects his entire household.

Therefore for a man to experience an incessant forward motion in his life and family, he has to move well, and for a man to move well he must have, as well as maintain a perpetual good personal relationship/rapport with the Lord, the omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent God. the Psalmist, after a thorough and keen walk with God told Him: You know when i sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you Lord, know it completely…Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? (Ps 139:2-4, 7). Every man’s daily prayer should include: God, be with my mouth, baptise my reasoning faculty with wisdom, and order my steps. When god is with your mouth, he will not only put words in your mind, but he will also go ahead of you to speak to people on your behalf. Likewise, when your steps are ordered by the Lord, only goodness and mercy shall follow you. Accordingly, you are bound to experience a leapfrog in your undertakings because God will set your feet on a large place (Ps 118:5b) so that you do not slip when you encounter challenges, which you will sure come across as you make progress.

The story of Naomi also reflects the fact that everything works out for God’s good, even our missteps. This adventure by the family into Moab’s land and territory ensures that firstly, there is Moab blood in the line of David and our Lord Jesus Christ’s bloodline (Jesse, Boaz) and secondly when Saul was persecuting David and he had to hide with his family in a territory that is outside Saul the king of Israel’s sphere of influence and reach, David and his family sought and got refuge among his great grandparents’ people, the Moabites.
