Psalm 145 verses 15-16;
The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
Plants are the basis of the food chain because they are the primary producers. They create their own food using a process called photosynthesis.
Plants and other organisms use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create their own food.
The process of photosynthesis occurs primarily in the chloroplasts of plant cells, which contain a green pigment called chlorophyll.
Photosynthesis is divided into two main stages: the light-dependent reactions and the light-independent reactions (Calvin cycle).
The light-dependent reactions capture energy from sunlight to produce energy-carrying molecules (ATP and NADPH), releasing oxygen as a byproduct.
The light-independent reactions use the energy from those molecules to convert carbon dioxide into glucose, a type of sugar that the plant uses for energy and growth.
This process converts sunlight into chemical energy in the form of glucose (sugar), which they use for growth and survival.
This makes them the foundational energy source for almost all life on Earth. All other organisms in the food chain are considered consumers because they must get their energy by eating other living things. Herbivores eat plants directly, while carnivores eat other animals that have, in turn, eaten plants. This means the energy originally captured by plants is transferred up the food chain from one organism to the next.
The connection and the dependence of living organisms to light is verified by the Biblical account of Creation about the Beginning, given that the very first thing that was created before any living thing was ‘Light’. Genesis 1 verses 1-5; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Physical Universe [Since Jesus Christ said in the Gospel of Luke 17:21; No one will say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’; because the Kingdom of God is within you.”], this is what the Heavens here indicate). Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep (Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Interstellar space, the prevalent substance in Astronomical studies of Physical Cosmology), and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. Light/Sunlight is thus essential for life (Living organisms).
Please note that the Astronomical terms and concepts in this post proposes that Creation started with the Big Bang Theory (Expansion, Inflation, Singularity, and other concepts such as Multi-Big Bang) and the age of the Physical Universe being around thirteen point eight billion years.
